La Paz has recently become an ideal place for retirement, creating a boost in a demand for La Paz properties. Along with its marinas, a new set of developments are emerging due to its relative closeness to the USA (2 hours flight from Los Angeles), the mild weather, the services the city offers, and the relative peace found in it.
La Paz is also favored by water enthusiasts for its marinas (Marina Cortez, Costa Baja Marina, Marina de La Paz, Marina Palmira and Marina Sur) as well as its boatyards, marine supply stores and cruiser club activities. The surrounding waters are full of adventure for experienced captains.
La Paz people enjoy its marine wonders, as well as its diverse and often unique terrestrial species endemic to the region. The nearby islands and islets (Espíritu Santo and Los Islotes) are under UNESCO protection as World Heritage Bio-Reserves and are considered the crown jewels of the islands of the Gulf (also referred to as the Sea of Cortez/Mar de Cortes), the primary tourist destination of the area. Its diving, snorkeling, and kayaking are considered second to none.

La Ventana and El Sargento are basically the same town and flow together to make one small village in the area. Todos Santos Is a great little tropical town at the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. Named Pueblo Mágico in 2006, this town is located 45 minutes south from La Paz and one hour north of Cabo San Lucas. Todos Santos is known as a refuge for artists, and has also become a destination for retirement and living, increasing the demand for Todos Santos properties. The great restaurants and galleries around town combine with warm and friendly people.
The mission Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Paz was founded by father Jaime Bravo in 1723. It is located across the street to the southwest from the small town plaza. This mission contains the statue of the Virgin of Pilar, which is the focus of Todos Santos main festival in October.
More recently, there has been a gradual increase in tourist activity and a boom in real estate development. Handicraft shops, owner-operated art galleries featuring landscape paintings of local scenes (some artists from Guadalajara and other parts of Mexico also exhibit works in Todos Santos).
Upscale restaurants, boutique hotels such as the Hotel California and restored colonial buildings have contributed to the gentrification and redevelopment of the town.
Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas or Cabo, is quickly a high-end holiday destination with a number of resorts and timeshare clubs appearing along the coast between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. One of the largest tourist destinations in Mexico and in the World. Cabo has thrived and grown tremendously in the last 20 years and now is a hot spot for all tourism, full time living and international sports fishing, making the Cabo San Lucas Real Estate market spike. Enjoying a quieter tourism, it has now opened it’s own marina which is called “Puerto Los Cabos”. San Jose del Cabo has also experienced rapid growth as well as new projects under way. San Jose del Cabo is the seat of the municipality of Los Cabos at the south end of the Baja California Sur Mexican state.

LOS BARRILES AND THE EAST CAPE
Originally known for it’s fishing but now a destination for retirees. Los Barriles is located one hour from the San Jose del Cabo international airport and 120 kms south La Paz. This area is considered to be similar to the town of La Ventana but maybe 10 years ahead of the pace. Still considered to be a small town but growing quickly with new resort locations and many luxury homes being built here, making East Cape Real Estate a great investment.
